Africa is probably the last place on earth you would think to go snowboarding. But contrary to a popular belief there are some resorts you can try. There are only two ski resorts on the African Southern Hemisphere, both placed in Maluti Mountains; Tiffindel in RSA and Afri-ski in Lesotho.

They are both very similar in style and don’t have much to offer snow-wise, but it’s not the case here – This is Africa, dude! Still you can ride in a snowpark (!) take part in a local events like African White Christmas or celebrate Kings Cup. Sounds unbelievable? Check out the first ever African snowboarding production – This is Africa – and see that it’s happening for real!

On a personal note, what strikes me most is that a great chunk of the Lesotho population lives under the poverty line and here rich elite and curious tourists spend more in a day – having fun, sniffing coke and drinking Cristal – than others earn in a month to make their living. On the other hand, T.I.A.!
