The qualification winner Charlotte Van Gils (NED) was riding strong all day but it was her last run that landed her the deserved top spot and she was all smiles. Her run consisted of a fs boardslide, huge straight air, fs 720, bs 360 and on the kinked butter box an uber smooth fs180 to 50/50 to to 180 off. Qualifying in second place Cecilia Larsen from Sweden was only a few points behind, she stomped a cab 540, bs 360, 50/50 to backside grab on the up gap box and a bs swich 50/50 on the last box.

Tomorrow the six qualified riders will join the likes of current Swatch TTR World No.1 Sarka Pancochova (CZE) and Cheryl Maas (NED) to battle it out for this coveted 6Star title on the Swatch TTR Tour and the 1000 TTR Ranking points.

Double Roxy Chicken Jam winner, Cheryl Maas (NED), the fourth of the TTR ranking, Lisa Wiik (NOR), or stars like Kjersti Buaas Oestgaard (NOR), Sina Candrian (SUI), Tania Detomas (ITA) and Lisa Filzmoser (AUT) from Wels in Upper Austria will try to capture a place on the podium for the local Austrians.

Apart from the sporting highlights at the snow park, concerts and DJ sets will make the Roxy Chicken Jam a big freestyle festival. Prior to the prize-giving, Innsbruck’s Wax Wreckaz DJ crew will drop some heavy beats at the Reiterkogel valley station. After the award ceremony, the electro underground collective Bunny Lake from Vienna will rock the crowd. Finally, an after-show party will top off the weekend.

Hence, the current leader of the Swatch TTR Women’s Ranking List, Sarka Pancochova (CZE), has confirmed to come to Saalbach Hinterglemm, just as four-time X Games gold medallist Janna Meyen-Weatherby (USA) who already presented herself in good form at the New Zealand Open 2009 where she took second place. The third of that important summer event, Shelly Gotlieb (NZL), will also be at the start, just like double Roxy Chicken Jam winner, Cheryl Maas (NED), the fourth of the TTR ranking, Lisa Wiik (NOR), or stars like Kjersti Buaas Oestgaard (NOR), Jenny Jones (GBR) and Tania Detomas (ITA). Lisa Filzmoser (AUT) from Wels in Upper Austria will try to capture a place on the podium for the local Austrians.

At the Roxy Chicken Jam 2010 at Saalbach Hinterglemm, Salzburg County/Austria, the snow park and the event format will be especially tuned for the needs of the girls. The world’s best female snowboarders will present their show-stopping slopestyle tricks only 200 metres away from the centre of Hinterglemm. At the Nightpark at Unterschwarzachlift, they will prove their creativity and style on two jib sets and a triple kicker line fighting for the US$ 50,000 prize-money.

The Roxy Chicken Jam will be held as a carbon neutral event. The compensation for the effects on the environment and the avoidance of CO₂ and garbage are in the foreground. “The Quiksilver group being committed to sustainability and the protection of the environment, it is a great step to have the Roxy Chicken Jam being held as a neutral event”, says Maritxu Darrigrand who is in charge of sustainable development at Roxy and Quiksilver. The emissions that will be produced at the production of artificial snow, at the use of the snow grooming vehicles, at the concert and at the journeys will be compensated in co-operation with the Suddenrush Atlantic Rainforest Institution (SRAFRI). Snowboard stars like Terje Haakonsen (NOR) and Nicolas Mueller (SUI) are actively involved in this project aiming to sustainably preserve the rainforest at the Brazilian Atlantic coastline (further information: www.atlanticrainforest.org).

The set-up has been finished so you can look forward to awesome conditions for grabbing styles and moves at the seventh Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam 09! Due to illness Eero Ettala will not start at the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam this year but an equal substitute: Matevz Petek (SLO) who won the third place last year will ride instead of Eero and promises to give his best!

Thanks to the good snow conditions and the working efforts of the shaping crew, according to Bernd Mandlberger the contestline comprises a kinked-Butterbox, two big kickers with 12m and 18m, a funbox with 13m and a wallride. Furthermore there are two kickers with 10 and 13 m. That looks very good!

Locals such as Stefan Gimpl, Christian Kröll, Flo Mausser, Herby Thaler and Julia Baumgartner, infamous riders of the international snowboard scene like Elias Elhardt, Marko Grilc, Ville Uotila as well as Cheryl Maas, Sarka Pancochova, the Swiss Markus Keller and Stefan Maurer as well as Conny Bleicher raise the riding level of the event to a peak. For Conny Bleicher and Julia Baumgartnerthe event is the perfect scene come-together. The this year’s lucky winners won’t only ride for joy and reputation, but also for a considerable prize money of 15.000 USD as well as a special awardfor the best-trick performance on the finale day and a three week’s all-inclusive surf trip to Bali.

Player Eligibility.
The idea is to pit each countries snowboard industry against each other. We want every team to be competitive, but at the same time this is a social contest to bring snowboarders who love football together. So, the basic rule is this all players must be able to snowboard.

This is just to stop pro or semi pro footballers being recruited who have no social connection with everyone.

Rules and regulations
Teams are 7 a side.
The limit to squad size is 12, so 5 subs
You must have a female on the pitch at all times.
Group games are 30 minutes long
Knock out games are 40 minutes long
Subsitutes can roll freely throughout the game.
11-a-side rules apply, not 5-a-side.
We will be playing on grass so firm or hard ground boots will be necessary.
All games will be played between 6 and 9 at night.

Format
On the 14th of June there will be a welcome party with a team captains meeting where the Ten teams will be drawn to play in two groups of five.

Each team will play Two group games on Monday 15th June and two group games on Tuesday 16th June.

The quarter finals will be played between the top four teams in each group on Wednesday 17th. The two fifth placed teams in each group will also play for 9th and tenth position.

The four semi finalists will play on Thursday 18th and the four losing quarter finalists will also play for 5th to 8th position

The final and the 3rd and 4th place play off will be held on Friday 19th.
There will be a BBQ and party hosted by Method Mag on the final night for all teams to come and eat, drink and cheer on the finalists.

The cost for the week will be €250 per team (€20 per player), €100 of this will go to the charity of the winning teams choice. The remaining €150 will go towards pitches, referees and the final night BBQ.

Travel and accommodation for your team are not covered by us. But if you want to get your team sponsored to help out with costs then we have no objection to support of any kind as this is a charitable event.

Strip
Choice of strip is entirely the choice of the Captain/manager. But the colour choice for your strip needs to be confirmed at the same time you confirm participation in the tournament on April the 15th.

Captain or managers roles and responsibility
To recruit a squad and bring them to Biarritz.

Select a team that represents the snowboard scene/industry in their country/brand/area.

Choose a strip (we would hope you can stretch to the national strip).

Ensuring your team are respectful of the rules, the referees and other teams.

Each team is responsible for their own travel and Accommodation.
Options for accommodation are included below for every budget.
Biarritz has an airport and train station that connects it to every major European city.

These are some of the places that we recommend but there are hundreds so have a search and if you need any help please feel free to email myself or Florent for some pointers. There are lots of villas for rent in the area and we are the week before high season starts so prices shouldn’t be extortionate.

Anglet Campsite
The Fontaine Laborde is really close to the beach with a great atmosphere, it’s pretty basic but also for the location very cheap. Great for surfing and partying.

The total prize purse for the Slopestyle and Superpipe competitions has risen to $50,000 and there will be additional prize purse of 6,000$ for the highly anticipated 2nd annual Mascot Superpipe Competition. In addition to awarding titles for each division, the unique event will feature a festival atmosphere with live performances by Santigold and Cold War Kids, a mascot competition, games and goodies for all to enjoy.

The women’s Roxy Chicken Jam has got a reputation as being one of the female riders’ favorite Swatch TTR event, delivering a park shaped with precision and guaranteed good times. A lot of the riders have been shredding the Southern hemisphere contests, they have been training hard since, putting in the hours, and are now super keen to get out there to step it up.

This year, Europe’s big guns like Sina Candrian (SUI), Conny Bleicher (GER), and Silvia Mittermüller (GER) will be flying the flag for Europe looking for those early season points, but it’s definitely not going to be a walk in the park for them, with previous TTR Champions Torah Bright (AUS), Cheryl Maas (NED) and Jamie Anderson (USA) in the mix, riders who always bring their A-game and stomp the big runs.

The men’s Nissan X-Trail Jam in Japan has a reputation as a totally crazy place, crazy fans, crazy jumps, and crazy riding, and if history is any indicator, we’re assured of seeing a showdown of epic proportions when the Swatch TTR superstars go head to head on December 12th – 14th, 2008. Current World No.1 Chas Guldemond will be out in force, especially after his banging Southern hemisphere season, and he’s amping for the event. “It’s pretty crazy, everybody’s got some pretty crazy tricks and when you get us on huge big jumps it’s going to be nuts”, he says. Also be watching out for Seb Toots (CAN) and Travis Rice (USA) as they attempt to stomp the trick everyone is talking about: the always spectacular Double Cork.

At the Glacier Park on Kitzsteinhorn, the planet’s best female snowboarders will fight for the US$ 50,000 prize-money as well as vital points for the Swatch TTR Women’s World Snowboard Tour.The Roxy Chicken Jams at Kitzsteinhorn at the beginning of the winter and at Mammoth, USA, at the end of the season are 6Star events and the biggest and most important competitions of the TTR Women’s World Snowboard Tour – while the winter kick-off in Kaprun sets the course for a successful season, the female world champion will be crowned at the Roxy Chicken Jam USA.

The slopestyle competition at the Glacier Park Kitzsteinhorn will be held in a jam session format: the female snowboarders are allowed to do as many runs as they want within the given time. 25 invited riders plus the best five riders of Friday’s qualifications will take part in the Main Session on Saturday. Subsequently, eight riders will compete in the finals.

For the snowboard girls, the Roxy Chicken Jam is the highlight of the season. This is proven by the extraordinary list of starters. Last year, the 2006 TTR World Champion Cheryl Maas (NED) won the event. Second place went to Jamie Anderson (USA), who later became the 2008 Swatch TTR World Tour Champion at the Roxy Chicken Jam USA. Claudia Fliri (AUT) who became eighth in the TTR ranking came in third. With the 2007 TTR World Champion Torah Bright (AUS) and Kjersti Buass Oestgaard (NOR), also the second and fourth of the 2008 TTR end-of-season ranking were at the start at last year’s Roxy Chicken Jam at Kaprun.
